· Product Description
The TLPK10 is a multistage protection module designedfor the protection of analogue telephone and data circuitsagainst transient over-voltages caused by lightning,induced impulses and other voltage surges. Traditionalshunt-connected gas filled arresters by themselves can nolonger provide adequate or required protection forsensitive line cards or newer generation digital switchingsystems.
The TLPK10 contains ten line protection circuits on asingle PCB. Each circuit consists of a primary threeterminal gas filled arrester followed by a secondarytransient clamping circuit.
The gas arrester provides common mode protection bybypassing transient currents to ground. The arresterchosen by LPI has a fast impulse response compatiblewith the requirements of advanced high speed datanetworks.
The secondary transient clamping circuit comprises aseries resistor in each leg plus shunt connected silicontransient protection devices.The effect of this series impedance is to providedecoupling between the primary and secondary protectionelements during fast rise time impulses associated withlightning type transient events.
The effect is that fast risetime events, with high dV/dt, are diverted to the primarygas filled arrester rather than passed through to theequipment.
Following the series impedance, silicon transientprotection devices provide transverse mode fineprotection.
TLPK10 is earthed through two spring clips, whichconnect to the Krone LSA frame. These robust tabsprovide excellent electrical contact with the frame.
· Application
The TLPK10 can be used to protect at the MDF, PublicExchange (PSTN), PBX, Key Telephone Systems (KTS),Pay phones, Security systems and Fire alarms as well asdata distribution systems, remote instrumentation, radiotransmitters etc.
The LPI TLPK10 is designed for installation into theKrone LSA-Plus Series 2* termination system. The LPITLPK10 must be installed into disconnect blocks to allowthe series impedance elements to be inserted in circuit.
